Sandhill Prince was the two and a half length winner of the Gawler Cup which was run over 1509 metres at Gawler on Sunday.

Clare Lindop was the top rider when she booted home consecutive winners while punters broke even with the bookmakers and the tote when four of the eight favourites saluted at Gawler on Wednesday.

Despite the wintery conditions, a good crowd still turned out at Gawler Racecourse for mid week racing.

The venue’s popularity was further supported by owners and trainers accepting with 126 horses for last Wednesday’s meeting, causing the Club to stage a 9 race program.
The Track rating for the day was a dead 4 but was upgraded to a good 3 from race 4. The weather was fine and sunny and the rail was in the normal position.

The first starter Harmonic gave trainer Tony McEvoy and rider Simon Price a half length win and the first leg of a back to back double in the opening event of 1200 metres at Gawler on Saturday.
A Delago Brom two year old gelding from the End Sweep mare La Simphony, Harmonic was well placed and showed a lot of promise in defeating the Mick Huxtable prepared Paul Gatt guided Artie’s Angel.

Tony McEvoy and Simon Price were the power-house when they won six of the eight races at Gawler on Sunday.
The pair scored early when the Encosta de Lago three year old filly Joy Toy, the $2.20 favourite, was the short half head winner of the opening event.

Apprentice Jordon Frew scored the biggest win of his career when he guided Electronic Millions, who is trained by his parents Heather and Kevin Frew, to a long neck win in the $40,000 Gawler Cup which was run over 2100 metres at the Gawler Racecourse on Sunday.
